Akira Kurosawa Script Cover

A collaboration product between Porter Classic and Kurosawa Costume.
[Sakiori Fabric]
In the past, fabric was an extremely precious material. People of that time would tear worn-out clothing and unusable futon fabric into thin strips, then weave them back into new fabric — a technique called "sakiori." This was how they gave new life to materials that could no longer be used.
This "AKIRA KUROSAWA SCRIPT COVER" uses fabric upcycled through sakiori from clothing that Akira Kurosawa actually wore during his lifetime.
It was born from the hope that some of the energy Kurosawa brought to his sets might reach the people working on production sets today.
[Porter Classic and Kurosawa]
The connection between Porter Classic and Kurosawa begins with a leather bag that appeared as an important prop in "High and Low." The bag was made by Kichizo Yoshida — grandfather of Porter Classic representative Yoshida Reo and father of company chairman Yoshida Katsuyuki.
The sakiori fabric is extremely difficult to work with, but Porter Classic's high level of craftsmanship made it possible to turn it into a script cover.
As the sakiori fabric containing Kurosawa's clothing is limited in quantity, this is a worldwide limited edition of 65 pieces.
